The Support Services division brings together those functional areas that do not form part of the core business of Group companies, but which provide critical support towards the realisation of business objectives. The key objective is to create competitive advantage for Group companies by turning traditional cost centres into highly effective, professional and value-adding components of the business. Each Support Services business or function has clear, quantifiable performance objectives and value propositions for which they are held accountable. These are aligned to and integrated with the objectives of the Group and are designed to drive business performance to “best practice” standards. The Support Services division creates opportunity to fully exploit the benefits of economies of scale. Non-core functions are removed from the business units and integrated into Group level service providers. The centralised support businesses and functions offer their in-house “customers” the highest standard of competence, expertise and value add. The businesses in the division are expected to function on a level of effectiveness and professionalism which will allow them to operate successfully in a commercial market environment.
